One Year Later: Indo-U.S. Trade - Expectations, Apprehensions and Solutions
Increasingly positive relations between India and the United States are expected to yield greater opportunities for business and commerce between the two countries. However, the growing exuberance in Indo-US relationship is still tempered with apprehensions about the ease of doing business in India, with several legal and policy-related facets acting as stumbling blocks.
The U.S.-India Business Council and Khaitan & Co, one of India's leading law firms, and the South Asian Bar Association of Washington D.C. are organizing a forum entitled "One Year Later: Indo-US Trade - Expectations, Apprehensions and Solutions" on the afternoon of April 13, 2015 in Washington, DC to hear from government, industry and thought leaders on the status of the commercial relationship one year after the new government took over in India. As US companies continue to explore investment or expansion plans in India, this Forum will discuss critical issues on the Indo-US economic relationship and also impart practical guidance on the ways and means of mitigating and minimizing these issues in an efficient and compliant manner.
The Forum will feature a free-flowing "arm-chair conversation" between senior members of the US and Indian governments, followed by an interactive panel discussion with representatives from industry.
As a precursor to this event, we are collecting empirical data on India's perception as a business destination through a short online survey. We would encourage you to take some time to provide your valuable inputs and help make this dialogue objective and inclusive.
Confirmed speakers include: Secretary William S. Cohen, The Cohen Group & USIBC Board Member, Ambassador Robert Holleyman, Deputy U.S. Trade Representative and Arun Kumar, Assistant Secretary of Commerce for Global Markets & Director General of U.S. and Foreign Commercial Service.
There is no charge for your attendance at the Forum. The discussions will be immediately followed by a cocktail reception. We look forward to your presence as we celebrate the relationship between the world's largest free-market democracies.
