USIBC Media and Entertainment Trade Mission to India
USIBC's Media & Entertainment (M&E) Committee, in coordination with the Cable and Satellite Broadcasting Association of Asia (CASBAA), is organizing a two-city mission to promote the M&E sector and lower barriers to cooperation in this growing sector. According to a 2017 survey, India’s M&E segment generates $19.4B in annual revenue and is growing at 14% a year. While India has been slowly lifting FDI limits in the sector, and making incremental gains around intellectual property rights (IPR), there remain a number of market access issues surrounding channel registration, access to space segment, copyrights, and emerging regulations of over-the-top (OTT) and video-on demand (VOD) services. The mission has three elements, starting with the CASBAA OTT and Broadband workshop on Friday, March 23, Mumbai.
Following a tentative site visit to a new film city in Mumbai, the delegation will shift to New Delhi for an extensive door know with key stakeholders such as the Telecommunications Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI), the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting (MIB), the Department of Telecommunications (DOT), et al.
The delegation will also meet key USG officials and host a public networking reception.
