From 330 medical colleges, India has 1 doctor for every 1700 people: Target 1 for every 1000
India aims to have a doctor for every 1,000 people by 2031

Currently, there are 330 medical colleges with an intake of approximately 35,000 students. With this intake, the shortfall of doctors by 2031 is estimated to be 9.54 lakh.
India at present needs 29,400 teachers but there is a shortfall of 6,340 teachers. There will be an additional need for 35,740 teachers in India soon, the report said.
