Business opportunity [in India] for products and service providers of efficient building space

Mr Robert Donkers, Minister Counsellor, Environment, Delegation of the European Union to India, said India is yet to build over two-thirds of the space estimated to be needed by 2030. This represents an opportunity to address the concerns built-up spaces pose to the environment, pollution and climate change.
The potential to bring down energy costs, conserve natural resources and mitigate the environmental impact of buildings were driving interest in green buildings.
However, products and services such as energy-efficient glass, lighting controls and recycling systems were being sourced from other countries, which was a constraint in terms of cost and access to technology.
