Global luxury brands urged to have production bases in India

India's luxury market was estimated at $4.67 billion in 2009, according to a report by A.T. Kearney. A number of international brands have opened retail stores across the country, mostly in key markets like New Delhi and Mumbai.
'Establish your production bases in India to supply Southeast Asia, West Asia and North Africa, because that is where India's core competency also lies,' he [Minister of State for Commerce and Industry Jyotiraditya Scindia]added.
