An iconic Delhi underpass highlights India's failings in public policy

- The flash report for July posted on its website shows that the cost overrun for the ongoing 1,781 infrastructure projects was an estimated ₹4.43 lakh crore. This is more than twice the size of the first ₹1.7 lakh crore Covid-19 relief package announced by GoI. Imagine how many social welfare programs could have been funded. Once every year, for almost ever that I remember, the iconic Minto Bridge underpass in New Delhi is in the news for all the wrong reasons.
- There is one heavy downpour during the annual monsoon, which causes the underpass to flood. Last year, a man got trapped and drowned. This year, too, despite desperate stopgap efforts, the underpass got flooded.
