Centre initiates plan to reduce shortage of IAS officers
Updated Dec 27, 2021 05:16 am
- Faced with a growing shortage of IAS officers, the Centre has decided to set up a panel to assess the deficit and suggest a recruitment plan for 2021-2030. The Department of Personnel & Training (DoPT) has given 'in-principle' approval for constituting the committee that will suggest measures for the immediate, medium as well as long-term needs.
- The panel will assess 'the number of officers that would be required over the next 10 years to man the various senior positions in the state cadres and central deputations', the DoPT has told a parliamentary panel. It is estimated that the shortage of IAS officers is well over 1,500.
