- Industry estimates suggest that the rapid rise of online shopping amidst lockdowns is creating a demand for workers in the logistics sector. The headcount in the industry has shot up by 20-25% year-on-year across a spectrum of roles such as delivery executives, pickers, packers, loaders, drivers and of course customer service executives. Thus, new roles and skill sets are pushing up demand.
- Neeti Sharma, co-founder and president, TeamLease Edtech opines that “Technology is very important as the sector becomes more automated and there’s a need for people skilled in AI, IoT, data analytics and machine learning.” She expects hiring to rise at 18-20% in verticals such as warehousing and transport.
