- A panel of experts during a virtual panel session by Hudson Institute think tank have opined that India is an important factor for US’ strategy in Indo-pacific. Both the countries, as per the panel, share a congruent strategic vision for the economies to be free and open amid China’s growing presence.
- Shivshankar Menon, Indian foreign secretary, said the relations between India and US are expected to grow as the strategic congruence between these countries is growing on issues like climate change, China, maritime security and many others. Menon said, “Since 2012, China’s active presence in South Asia, much stronger strategic commitment to Pakistan, playing a role in the internal politics of countries like Nepal and Sri Lanka and military build-up in the Indian Ocean region are problematic to India”.
