India opens up to pulses imports

- After a hiatus of 3 years, India has opened up import of tur, moong and udid Union Ministry of Commerce & Industry, modified these three pulses from restricted to open category. India is known to be the largest pulses producer and consumer of pulses in the world. Millers and farmers are shocked by the choice as it might suppress the costs.
- Traders, however, are happy about this move. Jitu Bheda, chairman, Indian Pulses and Grains Association (IPGA) said “IPGA welcomes this transfer wholeheartedly because it’s achieved maintaining the farmers curiosity in thoughts in addition to to assist hold the rising costs of pulses in test.
