India-UK Enhancing Collaboration in Food Products

- India is one of the largest producers of a number of agricultural commodities and has emerged as a leading exporter of food products given its strategic location, abundance of raw materials, and its cost competitiveness. It is the world’s largest producer of milk, pulses and spices and the second largest producer of rice, wheat and sugarcane.
- According to the Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare, in 2019-20, India was the largest producer of vegetables like ginger and okra and held the second rank in production of potatoes, onions, cauliflowers, brinjal, and cabbages.
