Indo-US ties under Biden: Retrieving the momentum

- Indo-US relations are expected to remain complex under the Joe Biden administration, even as the former can expect a more pragmatic and ‘multilateral’ approach on trade issues. However, in the aftermath of the pandemic India must be prepared for the fact that economic compulsions will be prime for the US as well.With Joe Biden’s administration coming into power, India has been expecting some reversal in the wave of protectionism.

On the other hand, while Biden is expected to be more pragmatic on trade-related issues, the US and India have to negotiate on issues like e-commerce, agricultural subsidies, special and differential treatment and pharma, where they have significant divergence in views.
